So today is day 2 of not knowing where the camera is and using my camera phone to take very grainy pictures. I know the pictures are dark and blurry, but I have zippo editing skills, and I figured it’s better to post something for you to read rather than nothing at all.
I met up with one of my girl friends today that I haven’t seen for weeks since the semester ended. While I’ve been dilly dallying my time away enjoying not having to do anything during vacation, she’s been on campus, retaking a course from the fall that she wasn’t able to finish during the semester with the rest of us. She needed help prepping for her exam, and asked me to tutor her, and of course I agreed to help. Plus, getting together to help her study also gave us a chance to catch up and talk.
For this casual get together, my outfit consisted of a denim mini skirt with a thin short sleeve sweater and strappy sandals. (Unfortunately, my clothes look a bit sloppy in these pictures. I took these after I got home, which meant they had been through about an hour’s worth of walking in hot sun and humid air, and a few hours of sitting in the cafe and library, which explains the awkward crease in the front of the skirt. Oh well!)
We grabbed coffee and a bite to eat at a local cafe/deli and cracked open the book a bit before migrating over to the library. For my fellow Gilmore Girls fans: do you remember in season 6, episode 10, when Chris met up with Lorelai to tell her that his grandfather died and that he inherited tons of money from him and wanted to share it with them? Do you remember the little cafe that they met in to talk about his inheritance? The cafe/deli that I went to was a quaint little shop that reminded me very much of the unnamed cafe in that particular episode of Gilmore Girls.
Anyway…back to the outfit. For accessories, I chose a big caramel colored ring that I thought would go nicely with the tan and tangerine stripes of the sweater.

I have tiny hands and fingers, so even the smallest-size rings sometimes don’t stay on my fingers well. I wore the 2 black rings – one on either side of the statement ring to help keep it in place.
Hope you enjoyed this post; thanks for reading!

I’ve had this little black dress for a while now. In cooler weather, I can wear this under a cardigan with flats and I’m good to go. But what happens in the summer? Is it insane to wear an all black dress in hundred-degree weather? I don’t think so!
**Note: If you’re wondering why it looks like I’m using my hand to cover my face, it’s because I have no idea where the camera is, so I had to use my camera phone and take a picture of my reflection in the mirror. That’s so like me =)
Here’s the dress all on its own, no embellishment:
The thing I like about wearing all black is that you can theoretically add any accessory you want since everything goes with black. For this outfit, I added a thick belt for some waist-definition and gold-strap sandals, but I had so many options for earrings that I ended up not being able to choose one!
Even though the dress is all black, I think it’s still warm-weather-appropriate. It has straps instead of sleeves, and I paired it with sandals, both of which give it a more summery feel.
This is easy to just throw on and head out, especially if I’m planning on doing a lot of walking. Since the dress has straps instead of sleeves, it’ll keep me cool even if I’m moving around a lot, and the sandals will be comfy and well-ventilated – especially good for those 6 hour shopping sprees!
